Founders Forum: Scheree Gilchrist, Legal Aid of North Carolina (Innovate Carolina)
Embrace the imperfect entrepreneurial journey as we delve into tales of triumphs and missteps, where startup leaders not only share their victories but openly discuss their pitfalls.
Next in our Founders Forum series, we’ll speak to Scheree Gilchrist, CIO for Legal Aid of North Carolina (LANC). Gilchrist oversees the development of a sustainable, strategic plan for innovation that will improve access to justice for clients and improve the way staff works to deliver services. She also acts as the director of the Legal Aid of North Carolina Innovation Lab, the first of its kind in a Legal Aid program nationwide.
Joining Scheree is Emily Mistr, Program Director for Legal Aid of NC Second Chance Project. Prior to joining Legal Aid in May 2023, Emily Mistr was a staff attorney with the NC Justice Center’s Fair Chance Criminal Justice Project and an Adjunct Clinical Professor with Campbell Law School in the Blanchard Community Law Clinic. Emily joined the NC Justice Center in 2020 after many years in the trenches as an assistant public defender in Raleigh, NC.
Through real-world success stories, we’ll explore the synergy between legal aid, technology, and workforce initiatives in fostering employment and community growth. Don’t miss this inspiring discussion on creating new pathways to prosperity and redefining the future of work.
The event will be moderated by Aaron Gard, UNC School of Law.
