Social Good & Networking Event: Brown Bag Ministry (Project Management Institute: North Carolina)
NCPMI is helping to make brown bag lunches for people in need.
Brown Bag Ministry (BBM) is an all-volunteer charitable organization that serves the homeless and hungry in the Triangle area of North Carolina. The mainstay of BBM – volunteers prepare 12,000+ bags a month for distribution in Wake and Durham Counties.
During this 2.5 hour morning shift, volunteers will participate in making and packing sandwiches. It is surprisingly fun to make ~120 sandwiches in teams of four and very satisfying to know that the brown bags go to people in the area who would not otherwise get a lunch (or meal) that day. Also, a great opportunity to network and practice your organizational skills, ?
This event is open for both members and non-members and is a great way to introduce children and teens to volunteer work and helping their community (please do not sign up any children under the age of 9, however, those younger children are still welcome to join your family at BBM).
It is encouraged to wear comfortable shoes as we will be standing up around tables during the event.
