Clean Energy in the Mountains (NC Sustainable Energy Association)
Starting with Executive Order 80 in North Carolina, the Cooper Administration has prioritized decarbonizing the statewide economy by 2050. Since that EO, we’ve seen the passage of HB951, mandating 70% emissions reductions in the electricity sector by 2030 and net-zero emissions by 2050. This led to the first iteration of NC’s Carbon Plan released at the end of 2022. Furthermore, we’ve also seen the administration release a deep decarbonization pathways analysis, along with the NC Clean Transportation Plan outlining strategies to decarbonize other sectors of the economy as well. At the event, we’ll feature a moderated panel conversation providing the latest updates on North Carolina’s path to decarbonization, while highlighting the role that local governments, community organizations, and private companies play in meeting our state’s goals.
