Leading from the Boardroom: Private Company Board Best Practices ((NACD – Triangle Chapter)
Whether a family-owned business, a formerly publicly traded company now held by a private equity firm, or a venture-backed startup, the boards of private companies face conditions that are unique to their corporate structure. There has been unprecedented activity in business transitions for private companies since 2020, including acquisitions of divisions or entire companies, changes in corporate leadership, reinvention of the workplace, and increasingly, the need to understand how technology will impact a company’s future. This full-day program, a signature event of the NACD Research Triangle chapter, offers both an overview of trends and themes in private company boardrooms, and a deep dive into key strategic issues. Our sessions will include director-led discussions on human capital, including recruitment, training, compensation and the changing workforce; risk management, covering digital transformation, financial oversight, cyber security and data integrity; and board skills assessment to ensure that the leadership team has what’s needed to remain nimble and relevant in a fast-changing environment. The program includes a networking lunch and afternoon reception at one of the Triangle’s premier venues.
