Chip Royce founded Flywheel Advisors to provide fractional sales, marketing & business development resources for emerging ventures and growth companies.
An early pioneer in internet technologies, consumer online media and online marketing (wikipedia), his core expertise is in identifying revenue & profit growth for technology ventures. This is accomplish by working with management teams to develop a successful go-to-market strategy, leading the sales & marketing function, building indirect channel / distribution partnerships & strategic alliances, and navigating to successful exits for shareholders.
Chip’s career has ranged in a wide variety of situations ranging from early-stage ventures to global fortune 100 corporations. Prior to founding Flywheel Advisors, Chip served in the Global Alliances group for Lenovo Group, Pty. He was part of the management team to create world-wide distribution for Lenovo’s China-only consumer PC business. Royce also spearheaded the expansion of Lenovo’s notebook PC business expansion with AMD, and established new routes to market for the company’s emerging mobile product with wireless providers around the globe.
Prior to Lenovo, Chip Royce was with Dell, Inc. He ran a $70M business within its US Consumer division selling PC’s and peripherals through retail partners including QVC, HSN and EBay. He also managed a portfolio of marketing partnerships worth hundreds of millions of dollars with Intel, Microsoft and other large technology leaders for Dell, Inc’s US Consumer & Small Business Division.
Prior to Dell and during the emergence of the internet as a driving technology platform, Chip held various business development and product marketing roles with subsidiaries of the internet investment / holding company CMGi, Inc. as well as with InterZine Productions Inc. (now part of Time, Inc.).
A strong supporter of technology entrepreneurship, Chip served on the board of the Council for Entrepreneurial Development (CED), mentors early and mid-stage companies through a variety of programs, including Techstars and NC Idea, and helps judge for the ‘Carolina Challenge’, a business plan competition held at UNC Chapel Hill’s Kenan Flagler Business School. A graduate of Boston University (BA) and University of Miami, FL (MBA), he lives in Cary NC with his family and is an avid golfer.
