Tim Flood is an associate professor of management communication at UNC Chapel Hill’s Kenan-Flagler Business School (since 2004)—where he teaches courses in communication, entrepreneurship, and leadership—and is currently the acting executive director of Launch Chapel Hill. Tim’s startup journey started with lemonade stands and lawn mowing, and really took two great turns: first, when he worked as a solutions consultant at Vanguard Cellular Systems (now part of AT&T Wireless)—back when cell phone companies were the hottest startups—and second, when he was lucky enough to connect with the Launch Box (soon The Triangle Startup Factory) in the then-fledgling American Underground. Since then, Tim has been very fortunate to work—as a consultant, advisor, pitch coach and critic, vocal supporter and networker—with Fortune 500 companies, startups, small and medium businesses, and teams who have come through Launch Chapel Hill. He’s also worked with ventures that have developed through the many-layered entrepreneurship ecosystem coming out of the business school, Innovate Carolina and across the UNC campus, state and the southeast.
